Get in touch with us nowIn 2021/22, an average of 76 grams of pizza was consumed per person per week: 62 grams from frozen or not frozen pizzas and 14 grams from takeaway pizzas. For takeaway, consumption was highest in 2015/16.
On top of the pizza eaten at home consumers ate 15 grams per week out of home in 2018/19 and 2019/20. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020/21, on average only three gram were consumed out of home. In 2021/22, out of home pizza consumption rose to nine gram per week. Consumers in the UK spend on average more on takeaway pizza than on frozen pizza. Spending in 2020/21 saw this pattern reversed for the first time since 2013. The following year, spending on takeaway pizzas declined even more, as compared to spending on frozen pizzas.
German consumers ate an estimated 388 thousand tons of frozen pizza. About 89 percent of German consumers were aware of the Pizza Hut brand, while 93 percent were aware of Dr.Oetker frozen pizza brands Ristorante and Die Ofenfrische.
