According to a survey conducted in 2021, the majority of social media users using Twitter recently in South Africa had an income level higher than 50,000 South African rand (around 2,705 U.S. dollars). Across the other income levels, the share of users fluctuated with no pattern.

The data is weighted to the South African national statistics service "Statistics South Africa's" population estimates, which allows for an accurate representation of 27.76 million South Africans.
To ensure a nationally representative sample, the survey is based on enumerated area (EA) sampling.
The source adds that users included here are social media users who used Twitter's platform yesterday and today (at the time the survey was conducted).
