According to a survey among South Korean consumers in 2023 on their usage of mobile shopping, around 63 percent of surveyed consumers stated that they used mobile shopping. Especially mobile shopping via smartphone was popular, as more than half of men and almost two out of three women in South Korea used their smartphones for online shopping, according to another survey.

In the tech-savvy country, mobile shopping via devices such as tablets or smartphones has quickly found its way onto that market, overtaking stationary internet shopping sales in 2016. When mobile shopping, most people resort to using shopping apps overusing a particular shop's website on their device. The most popular shopping apps in South Korea are the open market apps Naver Shopping and Coupang by a clear margin. Many shopping services and apps in South Korea offer a paid membership model to grant benefits to customers like faster delivery or early access to products. The most used paid membership for such a mobile shopping app was Coupang’s Rocket WOW.
