Health spending in Costa Rica as share of GDP 2010-2021
In 2021, spending on health represented eight percent of Costa Rica's gross domestic product (GDP), up from seven percent recorded in 2019. This figure was relatively stable during the period analyzed, ranging from an equivalent of seven to eight percent of the country's GDP. In comparison, that year Cuba's healthcare spending corresponded to 14 percent of its GDP, the highest value reported among Latin American and Caribbean countries.
