Ireland: incidence rate of match injuries in men's amateur rugby union 2017-2023
In the 2022/23 season, amateur male rugby union players in Ireland suffered from concussions at an incidence rate of 9.1 per one thousand hours of playtime, making it the most common match injury that season. Except for a dip in 2018/19, there has been a general increase in concussions sustained during amateur men's matches in Ireland since the 2017/18 season. Ankle sprains have also had a higher rate of incidence in recent years, becoming the second most common injury between 2019/20 and 2022/23.
