Donald Trump's social media platform Truth Social went public on March 26, 2024, after merging with Digital World Acquisition Corp. The market capitalization of Truth Social upon entering the public market stood at around six billion U.S. dollars. As of early 2024, Truth Social was estimated to have around five million monthly website visits. In February 2024, there were 40,293 downloads of the Truth Social app from the Apple App Store and around 56,881 from the Google Play Store. Additionally, over 61 percent of Truth Social users were men. As of September 2024, one in five users were aged between 55 and 64 years, making this age group the platform’s largest audience. In October 2024, 22 percent of women in the United States had an overall positive opinion of Truth Social. With men, the popularity score was higher, at 32 percent. When it came to generations, millennials were the most likely to have an optimistic impression of the platform. Although popularity among this generation had seen a decrease when compared to July 2024. Furthermore, 24.8 percent of Generation X held a positive view of Truth Social, as well as 18.7 percent of Baby boomers.A social media platform tailored specifically to one side of the political spectrum reduces the chance of debate and therefore engagement. As Truth Social is likely an echo chamber of right-leaning views, there is little need for new users to sign up unless an echo chamber is what they are looking for.
