Hydropower (including large, small, and micro plants) is the leading type of power plant in Brazil. In 2022, these plants accounted for almost 60 percent of the country's installed capacity. Meanwhile, wind power plants represented about 12.6 percent of the capacity that year. Brazil's installed electricity generation capacity surpassed 189 gigawatts in 2022.
