Japanese apricot production volume Japan 2012-2021
In 2021, the production volume of apricots in Japan reached around 105 thousand metric tons, an increase compared to around 71 thousand metric tons in the previous year. Figures peaked in 2013 when close to 124 thousand tons of apricots were produced.
Japanese apricots are commonly used to make plum wine, so-called umeshu. Pickled fruits, known as umeboshi, are another popular way to consume Japanese apricots.
