As of April 2021, around 23.2 percent of the surveyed adults reading digital publications in China were above 50 years old. Listening to audiobooks has become popular too, with 31.6 percent of the Chinese adult consumers doing so.

The survey was conducted among 34,470 respondents aged 18 years and above, 11,613 respondents aged below 18 years. 35,366 urban residents, 10,717 rural residents.
