The Conservative MP, Sir Peter Bottomley is currently the longest-serving member of parliament in the United Kingdom's House of Commons, having served for 44 and a half years as of the start of the 2019 Parliament. Of the ten longest-serving MPs, four are members of the Conservative party and five are members of the Labour party, with Margaret Beckett being the longest-serving Labour MP at 41.1 years.
