In 2024, the penetration rate of digital reading among Chinese consumers reached around 80.6 percent, indicating a continuous upward trend. On average, an individual Chinese reader consumed about 3.52 digital books, as per a survey result as of April 2024.

The 2024 survey was conducted among about 573,500 respondents, 22 percent of which aged below 18 years. 76 percent of respondents lived in urban regions and 24 percent were from rural areas.
