The internet and mobile banking services composed nearly 54 percent of BankID usage in Sweden in 2020. The second sector within which BankID was commonly used, was the payment services sector, accounting for roughly 17 percent of the usage.

In Sweden, BankID was most common among representatives of the age group between 31cand 40 years, as of 2020. BankID is an electronic identification solution for proof of identity of citizens for services, such as online payment. Nearly 99 percent of the population in this age group used BankID and were closely followed by the respondents of ages between 21 and 30 years.
