Cashless payments have become more popular in Germany over the years between 2013 and 2020 with a slight decrease in 2014. As of 2020, the most popular cashless payment method in Germany was direct debit payments that amounted to over 11.59 billion payments. Ranking second were credit transfers that amounted to almost seven billion in 2020.
