Banks are usually among the most valuable companies listed on the stock exchange. For example, Intesa Sanpaolo and UniCredit ranked fourth and seventh respectively among the companies listed on the Milan Stock Exchange with the highest market capitalization.
Intesa Sanpaolo goes global
Established in 2007 through a merger between Banca Intesa and Gruppo Sanpaolo IMI, the newly formed bank Intesa Sanpaolo became the leader in the banking sector in Italy. Over the years, the banking group has also developed a strategic presence abroad. The outcome of this international strategy? Intesa Sanpaolo counted 4,500 bank branches and 95,000 employees worldwide in 2022.
