Italy: net profit/loss of banking industry by quarter 2023

The net profit of the banking industry in Italy fluctuated significantly in the period between 2014 and 2023. The lowest value was recorded in the last quarter of 2016, when the banking sector reported a net loss of more than 14.7 billion euros. Since then, the Italian banking sector only recorded a net loss in the first quarter of 2020. The profit of Italy's banking industry peaked in the third quarter of 2023, at approximately 22.9 billion euros.
