Get in touch with us nowSince 2012 the revenue of the Italian group Barilla gradually increased, reaching up to 4.7 billion euros as of 2022. During that year, the value of profit out of losses was equal to 192 million euros. The Italian group with headquarter in Parma operates in the food industry and own several trademarks.
Barilla is among the top ten food brands with the highest household penetration rate in Europe, with over one-third of European households buying the brand. It is one of two Italian companies in that ranking, next to Nutella, which is owned by the Italian manufacturer of chocolate and confectionary products Ferrero. In Poland, Barilla is the third most popular pasta brand. Besides the Barilla brand, the Italian multinational food company also owns brands such as Wasa, Mulino Bianco, Pan di Stelle, GranCereale, and Harrys. During a survey conducted in Italy in 2021, about eight percent of respondents said they found Fast-Moving Consumer Goods brands such as Barilla, Coca-Cola, and others to be successful in communicating values of diversity and social inclusion, which is in the middle of the spectrum as compared to other Italian industry sectors.
When it comes to pasta, Italian products are a widely popular choice among German consumers. The import volume of Italian pasta products to Germany amounts to approximately 407 thousand tons annually. Italian pasta imports have remained relatively steady over the last decade. The market share of pasta imported from Italy in Germany makes up more than half of the entire German pasta market. When making purchasing decisions, many German consumers consider the regional origin of food products. Nonetheless, while German consumers particularly care about the regionality of some product groups, such as eggs or fresh fruit and vegetables, the importance of the regional origin of pasta products is comparatively low to Germans.
