Number of people with a mental illness in India by state and union territory 2011
The statistic depicts the main states in India with the highest number of people who were mentally ill or had mental disorders in India in 2011. In that year, the region with the highest number of people with mentally illness was the state of Uttar Pradesh, with some 76,600 people mentally ill, followed by the state of West Bengal with a little over 71,500 people suffering from mental illness.
