Leading YouTube channels in Denmark 2024, by number of subscribers
As of July 2024, the official Subway Surfers YouTube channel had the most subscribed YouTube channel in Denmark, with 8.96 million subscribers. The Minecraft gamer and YouTube video creator Benjamin Dreyer Vestergaard, better known as Crainer, ranked second with more than 7.88 million subscribers. The Minecraft gamer MagmaMusen had five million subscribers.
YouTube and Danish social media
The video- sharing platform YouTube has been a favored destination for Danish users for many years. As of January 2023, YouTube's popularity in Denmark continued to grow, with a penetration rate of over 90 percent, indicating that over nine out of 10 people in Denmark uses the platform. According to a 2022 survey, more than 70 percent of Danish respondents reported using social media on a daily basis, while five percent used social media platforms at least once a week.
Why YouTube?
Although gaming channels held a prominent position in the list of top YouTube channels subscribed to in Denmark, Danish YouTube users also prefer to use the video- sharing platform to listen to music. As of May 2022, approximately 60 percent of respondents reported listening to music on YouTube. According to a 2022 survey, media-sharing platforms such as YouTube, Snapchat, and Instagram were popular among Danish users, with almost six out of every 10 respondents reporting using video platforms. Additionally, Facebook is also among the most widely adopted social media platforms in Denmark, with around 67 percent of Danish respondents reporting interacting with it.
