Number of pensioners in Belgium 2022, by type of pension

The number of pensioners in Belgium varied by type of pension in 2022. As of the 1st of January 2022, 302,300 Belgians received both a retirement and a survivor's pension after their legal partner passed away. On the other hand, under 1,700 thousand people received a transitional pension in Belgium in 2022. Such a pension is allocated when the surviving partner does not fulfill the age requirement to be entitled to a survivor's pension.
