Peek & Cloppenburg Düsseldorf (not to be confused with Peek & Cloppenburg Hamburg), or P&C among the population in both cities, is one of Germany’s best-known clothing retailers. Revenues had been decreasing during the coronavirus years, but, grew again in 2022, exceeding pre-pandemic levels.
Dressed for success?
The clothing company has its roots in Dusseldorf, where the headquarters are still located, and looks back on a long history that started at the beginning of the twentieth century. The Hamburg branch was founded a decade later. Although Peek & Cloppenburg has a high brand awareness in Germany, the popularity leaves more to be desired. This might be the reason the company missed a place among the top ten textile retailers in Germany in terms of revenue.

Based on forecasts, retail clothes shopping is predicted to enjoy stable developments in the 2020s, with revenues gradually increasing. It remains to be seen how the expansion of online clothing retail will influence business in brick-and-mortar stores.
