The amount of payment cards given out in Austria from 2000 to 2023 has generally risen over time. The number of issued cards with a payment function amounted to approximately 14.5 million in 2023. Card payments (both credit and debit) consisted of over half of payments by various payment methods in Austria in 2021 (51.5 percent).
