Card payments via debit and credit cards stood out in Austria in the relative importance of payment services or instruments as a share of total transactions (in terms of transaction numbers) of 2020. In that year, card payments accounted for almost half of all transactions (49.2 percent). 15.26 million payment cards were issued in the country in that year.
