What makes a whiskey Tennessee whiskey?
A law passed in Tennessee in 2013 defines the standards a liquor must adhere to in order to be called Tennessee whiskey. It must be made from at least 51 percent corn, aged in charred oak barrels and filtered through charcoal.
Efficient marketing
In relation to other straight (not blended) whiskeys, Jack Daniel’s faired equally well, holding the top spot with 23 percent of the market in the U.S. in 2017. The whiskey received the most advertising spending of all Brown-Forman’s brands in the United States in 2017, over 14 million U.S. dollars. Despite topping sales in the nation, Jack Daniel’s did come second to Jim Beam in advertising expenditure. Over twice the amount of money was spent marketing Jim Beam products in 2017.
