Passenger journey numbers on the London Underground bounced back up to 22.4 million passengers in the four week period starting March 7, 2021 after a period where it was down to 16.8 million passengers in January 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak, which led to lockdowns and movement constraints in all countries around the world. In 2023, passenger numbers had risen to between 80 and 95 million passenger journeys in each four-week period.
