In 2024, the state of Vermont produced over two million gallons of maple syrup, making it the top producer of maple syrup in the United States. The second leading producer, New York, had a production volume of about 846 thousand gallons of maple syrup in that year.

The United States is a major producer of maple syrup, with a total production volume of around 4.2 million gallons of maple syrup in 2022. Maple syrup is harvested by inserting a tap into a maple tree and collecting the tree sap. This sap is then processed into syrup and bottled. There were about 13.4 million maple taps in the United States in 2023.

The average price per gallon of maple syrup in the United States varies greatly from state to state. New Hampshire and New York have the highest average price of maple syrup. Wisconsin had the lowest price for maple syrup. Among U.S. consumers, the most popular brand of pancake syrup was Aunt Jemima, followed by Mrs. Butterworth's.
