This statistic displays the percentage of U.S. adults who have looked online to diagnose a condition and those that have followed-up with a professional medical opinion in 2012, sorted by gender. Of the surveyed adult men, 30 percent have gone online to diagnose a condition. Of these, half had a professional follow-up. The internet has become a diagnostic tool for about one-third of adults in the United States. Women and younger adults are more likely than men to use the internet for a possible diagnosis.
