Number of mobile gamers in China 2013-2023
The mobile gaming scene in China has experienced an upward surge. The number of mobile gamers peaked at around 657 million in 2023 after a slight drop in the previous year. Its growth was projected to slow down in the coming years .

Among various mini-programs on WeChat, the country's most popular social media, mobile games contributed around 11 percent of the traffic from the top 100 mini apps. As per the results of a survey on the distribution of mobile game users conducted in 2020, a majority of players were concentrated in tier-2 cities of China, such as Chengdu and Wuhan. Gaming is not just for the young generation. About a third of mobile game users were above 40 years old.
