In 2022, over 49 million tons of paper and paperboard were recycled in the United States. Despite having decreased slightly from the previous year, the volume of paper recycled in the North American country has increased by nearly 70 percent since 1990. Approximately 41 percent of recovered paper in the U.S. was used to make containerboard.
