In 2022, Lindt & Sprüngli's total sales worldwide amounted to about 5.20 billion Swiss francs. Since 2013, sales numbers generated by the Swiss chocolatier and confectionery company have grown considerably each year, with the exception of 2020.

In 2021, Lindt & Sprüngli AG made roughly half of its sales in Europe, making it the company’s top market. About 37 percent of the company’s sales were generated in North America, while the remainder was earned in all other markets.

Founded in 1845, the company started as a small confectionery business based in Zürich, Switzerland. At that time, about ten people worked for the enterprise. By 2009, Lindt & Sprüngli employed approximately seven and a half thousand people. Ten years later, the company employed double that number. In 2020, the number of employees declined for the first time. However, in 2021, this trend reversed and once more the number of company employees grew to a total of over 14,000. In 2021, the company generated about 324 Swiss francs in sales for each one of its employees.
