Berkshire Hathaway revenue 2009-2023

The value of total revenue generated by Berkshire Hathaway has consistently risen year-on-year since 2009, dropping for the first time in 2020 before increasing again in subsequent years. In 2023, total revenue generated by Berkshire Hathaway reached approximately 364.5 billion U.S. dollars. In 2009, their revenues amounted to 112.49 billion U.S. dollars, so total revenues have more than tripled since then. 

Primary focus: insurance sector

Berkshire Hathaway is an American holding company, which operates in several industries, such as insurance, utilities and energy, manufacturing and retailing. However, it’s primary focus is the provision of property and casualty insurance through segments such as GEICO and the Berkshire Hathaway Primary Group. The vast majority of property and casualty premiums written by Berkshire are in the United States, with only a small volume being written in Asia Pacific or Western Europe.

Berkshire’s growing workforce

The number of employees has also increased over the past decade, but not at the same rate as their revenues. This suggests that the company has increased their efficiency and managed to generate more profits.
