A 2024 survey about the consumption of micro-dramas in China found that 56 percent of respondents had not paid to watch any ultra-short TV drama online. A quarter of respondents spent between 10 and 100 yuan on such bite-sized content, whereas less than one percent consumed over 500 yuan.

One yuan equals approximately 0.14 U.S. dollars and 0.13 euros (as of December 2024).Â
Female respondents accounted for 60.8 percent. Respondents who were born between 2000 and 2009 accounted for 37.6 percent, the highest among other age groups. About 81.9 percent of respondents possessed a higher education level.
