On August 20, 2024, the long-waited Chinese video game Black Myth:Wukong was finally released. The action role-playing game, inspired by the Chinese legend of Journey to the West, took six years and 70 million dollars to make. The game's stunning visuals, narrative, and gameplay made it a huge hit with Chinese social media users of all ages: almost one-fifth of users who had interacted with content related to the game were above 54 years old.
