According to a survey on the global popularity of South Korean cultural content in 2023, the most common way to purchase Korean food overseas was in local restaurants and stores, with a respondents' share of over 60 percent. Purchasing via local websites and apps came in second at around 44.3 percent of responses.

This survey was conducted in the following 26 countries and territories: China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Australia, Vietnam, United States, Brazil, Argentina, France, United Kingdom, Russia, Turkey, UAE, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Italy, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and South Africa.
