As of 2022, China had an availability of over 200 million tons of agricultural waste suitable for the production of sustainable airplane fuels. However, the upper production limit stood at just over 20 million tons per year. According to a forecast, the Chinese aviation industry was projected to have an overall jet fuel demand of 132.5 million metric tons.
