Effective film marketing plays a crucial part in for any movie becoming successful. In China, however, over 78 percent of the surveyed moviegoers expressed the need for such marketing campaigns to center on the film itself. Over half of respondents shared the same opinion that influencers and celebrities are often too much of the focus, and marketing content should stay true to the plots and acting.
Perceived problems in movie marketing campaigns among consumers in China as of May 2024
This question was phrased by the source as follows: “What do you think are the problems of film marketing nowadays?”
Multiple answers were possible.
Among the respondents, 35.3 percent were from first-tier cities, 42 percent from second-tier cities, 19.1 percent from third- and fourth-tier cities, 1.9 percent from towns and villages, and 1.7 percent from rural areas. 14.5 percent of the respondents were born after 2000, 45 percent were born between 1990 and 1999, 32.3 percent were born between 1980 and 1989, 6.6 percent were born between 1970 and 1979, 1.5 percent were born between 1960 and 1969, and 0.1 percent were from the others.
