Democrats' views on the importance of abortion when voting for a candidate U.S. 2023
According to a survey conducted in 2023, 47 percent of Democrats in the United States said that they would only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion, while 44 percent said that they would consider a candidate's position on abortion as just one of many important factors. A further nine percent did not see this as a major issue at all. However, Democrats aged between 18 and 29 years and Democrat women were most likely to say that they would only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion, totaling 53 percent and 50 percent respectively. In contrast, Democrats aged between 50 and 64 years and Democrat men were most likely to say that they did not see this as a major issue, with 10 percent of each demographic group sharing this belief.
