In 2022, political views appeared to have a significant impact on personal relationships. According to a survey, approximately 58 percent of Democrats and 49 percent of Republicans in the United States considered political ideology somewhat or very important to their relationships. The majority of Independent voters in the U.S. considered political ideology a less important factor surrounding their personal relationships.
