According to a survey conducted in 2023, 47 percent of Republicans in the United States agreed that they would consider a candidate's position on abortion as just one of many important factors, while 34 percent said that they would only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion. A further 19 percent did not see this as a major issue at all. However, Republicans aged between 18 and 29 years and Republican women were most likely to say that they would only vote for a candidate who shares their views on abortion, totaling 41 percent and 37 percent respectively. In contrast, Republican men were the most likely demographic group to feel that this was not a major issue, at 22 percent.
