In 2022, BASF, a leading global chemical company, topped the ranking of global fluoropolymer-producing companies by net sales, achieving sales of 93.1 billion U.S. dollars. Bayer, another major fluoropolymer producer, reported net sales of 54.1 billion U.S. dollars, and Honeywell, known for its wide range of industrial products, recorded net sales of 35.5 billion U.S. dollars.
Fluoropolymers belong to the broader class of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which are synthetic chemicals utilized in numerous industrial applications and consumer goods such as non-stick cookware, waterproof garments, and firefighting foams.
