After the 2022 Italian parliamentary election, Brothers of Italy won 66 of the 200 elected seats available in the Senate of the Republic, the upper house of the Italian Parliament. The Democratic Party and the League gained 37 and 29 members of the parliament (MPs), respectively. The Five-Star Movement significantly lost in comparison to the 2018 elections, securing only 28 senators. Overall, Brothers of Italy, the League and Forza Italia acquired 113 seats, more than the necessary majority of 103. This result, together with the margin obtained in the Chamber, enabled the coalition to form a government.

In the Senate, elective seats are 200, but the President of the Republic may appoint five senators for life based on their political, civil, or scientific merits. Former Presidents of the Republic become senators for life at the end of their term. After the 2022 elections, senators for life were six, raising the total number of seats to 206.
