According to a survey conducted in 2023, 44 percent of Americans believed that hiring armed guards would be very effective in reducing the number of students killed in school shootings in the United States. A further 40 percent believed that raising the age to purchase firearms to 21 would be a very effective policy to reduce the number of fatalities from school shootings.
