According to a survey conducted in 2022, Americans were most likely to support a policy surrounding gun ownership which expanded screening and treatment for the mentally ill in the United States, with 67 percent strongly supporting this policy. In comparison, only 31 percent strongly supported equipping teachers and school staff with concealed firearms to respond in the event of a school shooting.
