Share of public schools who feel understaffed U.S. 2024, by students of color
At the start of the 2023-24 school year, 45 percent of public schools felt understaffed in the United States. Public schools where students of color made up 75 percent or more of the student population were most likely to feel understaffed, at 49 percent. In comparison, only 41 percent of public schools with 25 percent or less of the student population consisting of students of color felt understaffed.
