Share of LBGTQ+ students with various reasons to drop out of high school U.S. 2021-22
According to a survey conducted during the 2021-2022 academic year, 92.3 percent of LGBTQ+ students cited mental health concerns as a reason why they do not plan to graduate high school or are unsure if they will graduate high school in the United States. Academic concerns, poor grades, a hostile school climate, and challenges related to online learning rounded out the top five reasons for LGBTQ+ students to drop out of high school in that year.
