U.S. views on how slavery and racism should be taught in schools 2023
According to a survey conducted in 2023, Americans remain divided on how slavery and racism should be taught in schools, with 49 percent believing that schools should ensure that all students learn about the ongoing effects of slavery and racism and 41 percent believing that schools should teach the history of slavery and racism, but should not teach about race relations today. Only 11 percent were found to believe that schools do not have a responsibility to ensure that all students learn about the history of slavery and racism in the United States.
