Approximately 4.3 million internal displacements of people have been reported in Brazil between 2008 and 2023 due to weather-related natural disasters. About 2.7 million of these internal displacements were due to floods, while an additional 1.5 million were caused by storms. The Santa Catarina storm in October 2023 alone was responsible for 61,000 internal displacements of people in the South American country.
