According to a survey conducted in July 2023, 40.1 percent of Generation Z Threads users in the United States had downloaded the app because they thought it looked fun. Overall, 38.7 percent reported downloading the Meta app because they wanted to try a new platform, and one quarter of Gen Z Threads users in the United States were on Threads because their friends and family were. Additionally, one in five users said they were looking for an alternative to X/Twitter.
