TikTok's sister Douyin and its short video rival Kuaishou have overtaken WeChat Moments in online ad revenue in China. In September 2023, over a third of internet media ad spending in China was allocated on the two short video apps. The share of WeChat Moments, a fundamental feature on WeChat like Facebook Timeline, stood at 14.4 percent.
