Leisure and social purposes are the most common reasons why people in China like eSports. In a Chinese survey conducted among eSports fans in May 2023, about two-thirds of respondents mentioned that they used the competitive gaming format to either relax and entertain, or to find a common conversation topic with friends. Marketing can have a positive impact on promoting the sector, with 37 percent of respondents saying they were attracted by marketing content on eSports.
