In 2023, the largest energy storage project in China, accounting for 600 megawatts of molten salt thermal storage capacity, will be located in the CGD (City Gas Distribution) Group Golmud City solar thermal plant. The Ming Yang smart energy - Tong Liao hybrid project, commissioned in 2023, will use lithium-ion battery storage systems, while the remaining energy storage projects in the country use or will use the electro-mechanical battery storage technology of compressed air storage.
